Darcy, born forever ago in Dallas, Texas U.S.A. to two graphic and fine artists. Graduating from the college of fine art at the University of Arizona’s bachelor's and Masters of fine art program with awards, shows, and publications, she then moved between Dallas, Seattle, and Miami before settling on NYC, where she was formed and influenced as an adult. Working in the music industry and graphic design led her to Paris, Berlin, and Slovakia amongst many other host cities before relocating to Catania for love in 2009. After retiring from the music biz she ended her fine art hiatus and picked up pencil, brush, and camera again. Exploring her new world as a foreigner in a strange land inspired her metamorphosis back to an artist. Since 2009 she has painstakingly retaught herself fundamentals, concepts, and techniques.
Her style has always been realism and hyper-realism to be precise, with a focus on illustration. Of late, breaking rules, crossing borders and boundaries, and doing as she pleases is the root of her newer style and expression. Her photography looks like art and her art looks like photography, including colorful yet dark abstracts and lively loose portraits and landscapes.
She has several veins currently in progress. Exploring her family heritage, she has uncovered many enlightenments, mysteries, and secrets that led to “D.N.A” DO NOT ASK - work in progress. Being such a heavy and emotional task, escaping to a fresh large canvas and creating an abstract of dark or bright colors has been a simultaneous outlet for all the thoughts stemming from the juxtaposition of her idealistic Americana childhood and that of the secrets, crimes, found family and unwanted info dropped in her lap during her family tree expedition to the dark side. All of which is the basis for “D.N.A”. In turn, this pile of nonsense has led to a photo series “Shot in the Dark” - a work in progress.
Constantly going against the grain of the “art world” and traditional ways she and her Sicilian husband have decided to make a home for her and other rule-breaking artists to showcase their work at “Radica” Gallery. It finds itself online at birth, and throughout adolescence will grow to be a settled spot for the independent free-thinking artist to show their own mysteries and treasures of their personal explorations.

My work explores the relationship between Bauhausian sensibilities and skateboard ethics. With influences as diverse as Caravaggio and Francis Bacon, new synergies are generated from both mundane and transcendent dialogues. Ever since I was a student I have been fascinated by the theoretical limits of the human condition.
What starts out as vision soon becomes finessed into a dialectic of defeat, leaving only a sense of decadence and the dawn of a new order. As momentary derivatives become clarified through emergent and diverse practice, the viewer is left with a clue to the darkness of our world.
Nope, I simply like taking photos and making art.
